Volvo sets goal to sell 1 million electrified cars by 2025

Following a global sales record in 2015, Volvo plans to sell 1 million electrified cars by 2025, the company said today.
“It is a deliberately ambitious target,” Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said in a statement. “It is going to be a challenge, but Volvo wants to be at the forefront of this shift to electrification.” The 1-million target will be cumulative sales from 2012 to 2025, a company spokesman said. Last year, Volvo’s global sales gained 8 percent to 503,127 deliveries. The automaker said it plans to offer at least two hybrid versions of every model and release an all-electric car in 2019. The company’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) can incorporate hybrid or fully electric car technology, Volvo said. more ...
